Dear Manchester Community,
It’s been a busy and fun past month of school! It has definitely felt like field trip season as our students have been immersed in place-based learning all along the coast, and on May 15th- 17th grades 3-8 will attend the Pacific Environmental Education Center Field Trip.
We LOVE our Teachers!
This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week! Each day this week, we will be celebrating our amazing teachers. Please join us in letting them know how much they are appreciated!
State Testing: We are also entering into state testing season. Starting on Tuesday, students in grades 3-8 will begin their assessments. Please help your child prepare for the assessment by encouraging them to do their best, get a good night’s sleep, and develop a healthy perspective (i.e., think positive and work hard even if taking tests is not something they prefer).
Students will test in math during the week of May 20th. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding these assessments, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the front office.
This is also the season of celebration! We couldn’t be more proud of the achievements of our students! Join me in celebrating the following successes:
Did you know that our 3-5 students stumped an Engineer with their question that was also featured on KZYX Cosmic Radio? Please find a link to the program and listen in!
Congratulations to Alejandro Fuentes, Max Post-Leib, and Christopher Cadena for placing second in the Junior for Engineering Award in Mendocino County and for making it to state! We also had the following students’ science projects qualify for the county competition: Julieta Davila (Life Sciences), Greyson Stoffers, Bryan Fuentes-Perez & Johnny Soto (Life Sciences), and Brilynn Scaramella, Billie Piper & Zurielle Herrera (Physical Science & Engineering). We have some amazing scientists!
Art! Art! And more Art! Our students are also incredible artists! We celebrated each of our students at the Gualala Art Center where they each had art on display at the Salon De Refuses Art Exhibit at the Gualala art center. Our very own Alejandro Fuentes won first place in the Emerging Artist and earned $100 for his Tiger Car acrylic painting. Brianna Clayton, Alejandro Fuentes, Silas Lampi, Billie Piper, and Brilynn Scaramella were also all winners at the Celebrating Art Contest!
24th Annual Rotary Scholars Recognition Luncheon: Congratulations to Brianna Clayton and Max Post-Leib for being recognized with the Annual Rotary Scholars Award for this school year. We are proud of you!
Summer Program: We are happy to announce that we will be able to offer an educational and enrichment program for our students this summer! The first day of the summer program will be on June 17th and run through July 26th. Summer school hours are from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. During the first two weeks of the summer program, students will be able to participate in swim lessons at Sea Ranch. Transportation will be provided. To register for the free summer program, please complete the registration form that will be coming home with your child this week. If you are specifically interested in the first two weeks of swim lessons, please notify the office as soon as possible for additional forms and to ensure there is a spot available for your child.
Thank you for your partnership and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
