Happy New Year Manchester Community! ¡Feliz año nuevo comunidad de Manchester!
We hope you had a restful and relaxing break. We also hope your students are looking forward to returning to school tomorrow! As we start 2024, there are many exciting things happening at our school. First, our 7th and 8th grade students are starting internships in the community. If your child is in 7th or 8th grade, please keep an eye out for the permission slips that will be coming home soon and please take time to ask them about their internship matches and experiences!
Esperamos que haya tenido un descanso reparador y relajante. ¡También esperamos que sus estudiantes estén ansiosos por regresar a la escuela mañana! Al comenzar el año 2024, están sucediendo muchas cosas interesantes en nuestra escuela. Primero, nuestros estudiantes de 7º y 8º grado están comenzando sus pasantías en la comunidad. Si su hijo está en séptimo u octavo grado, esté atento a las hojas de permiso que llegarán a casa pronto y tómese el tiempo para preguntarles sobre sus experiencias y coincidencias con las pasantías.
Second, at Manchester, we value teaching for biliteracy. You may have heard the exciting news that we have additional staff members who will be joining our Manchester team. Two of the new teachers have arrived from Chile, and another one of our teachers is local, but has traveled the world teaching English- even in Dubai! There is plenty of research that supports that not only is it a huge asset when an individual is multiliterate, but there are significant cognitive, educational, sociocultural, and economic benefits when students learn more than one language. En segundo lugar, en Manchester valoramos la enseñanza para la alfabetización bilingüe. Es posible que haya escuchado la emocionante noticia de que contamos con miembros adicionales del personal que se unirán a nuestro equipo de Manchester. Dos de los nuevos profesores llegaron de Chile y otro de nuestros profesores es local, pero ha viajado por todo el mundo enseñando inglés, ¡incluso en Dubai! Another goal at Manchester Elementary School is to personalize learning for students. Your voice matters on what you would like your child’s experience to look like with learning both early literacy in Spanish and English. I would like to invite you to a meeting to ask questions, meet our additional teachers, and co-design the learning experience for your child. More information will be coming soon on meeting opportunities, or you can connect with Denise in the front office to schedule a time.
Otro objetivo de la Escuela Primaria Manchester es personalizar el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. Su voz importa sobre cómo le gustaría que fuera la experiencia de su hijo al aprender alfabetización temprana en español e inglés.
