Hello, I am Mrs. Goija. I have been involved within Manchester Elementary School for about 7 years-as a parent, volunteer, and employee. I served on the Site Council committee for four years as a parent/staff representative and I urge all to get involved. The educational process and the desire to inspire children to want to learn has always been on my mind throughout my many professions. My family came to the Mendocino coast in 1971. I graduated in 1990 from UCSC with a degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis on scientific Illustration, Book-Arts, Printmaking, and Education. I did my first student teaching in 1988 at Live Oak Elementary in a kindergarten classroom. I feel strongly that the Arts are an integral part of the learning process and nurturing the creative process is a valuable asset to all children. This year I have been invited to join our open classroom team in a collaborative teaching environment fostering independence, creativity, choice, and strong academics. This year I am the ELA-Lit and Social Studies instructor. Excitement is the name and critical thinking is the game! Our new bilingual teachers are firecrackers bringing with them experience and a wealth of knowledge, as well as green thumbs. We learn from each other as we guide the children on their educational journeys inciting curiosity, compassion, and a desire to learn. I am excited about our Environmental Literacy program and to bring a global perspective to our local on-site garden projects. We have Garden #1, the ‘No-Til’ Garden #2, and our new ‘H.H.’ (Hoop House) #3. We also have our Vermiculture project which creates wonderful castings (vermicompost). I am interested in waste management and fostering the awareness of self-sufficiency and our human connection and role within the cycles of life, biodiversity, and sustainability. We have a dynamite and exceptional MUESD team-energetic and strong. We are all devoted to the children and are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. I look forward to keeping you up to date on your child's progress and listening to anything you may have on your mind.

Goija Post, Dual Language Teacher English and Social Studies
Nicole Garcia, Dual Language Teacher Math & Science
My name is Nicole, and I embarked on a transformative journey from Chile to the United States in January 2024, accompanied by my son. This transition marks the beginning of my work in the Dual Language Program, a project that I approach with immense passion and enthusiasm. The warm and welcoming reception from the entire school community has filled me with gratitude, making me feel truly at home.
In an increasingly globalized world, the importance of bilingual education cannot be overstated. Spanish immersion in an English-speaking context not only enriches students' linguistic abilities but also fosters cultural understanding and collaboration. It empowers students to communicate across diverse communities, enhancing their cognitive skills and preparing them for future opportunities in a multicultural environment.
As an educator with a specialization in Mathematics, my goal is to cultivate a nurturing and inclusive learning atmosphere where all students can thrive and reach their fullest potential. My interactions with my students have been enriching and heartwarming; their consistent support and affection inspire me daily as I navigate this exciting new chapter in my professional life.
I firmly believe that education serves as a powerful catalyst for societal transformation, cultivating critical thinking and awareness in individuals. My mission is not just to impart knowledge but to empower my students to become conscientious and engaged members of society, equipped with the skills to navigate an interconnected world. I look forward to continuing this journey, collaborating with my colleagues and students, and contributing positively to our community.

Jennifer Dempsey, Resource Teacher
Hello families from Ms. Jennifer!
I am a happy member of the Manchester School community for 20 years, as an instructional aide, parent, and now as the education specialist teacher in training. I studied geography in college and worked in city government before my husband and I moved to the coast with our two daughters. I did not anticipate making a career in education but I discovered that time spent teaching and learning with children is an exceptional challenge that fills my heart.
Laura Erwin, Bus Driver/After School Program Aide
Hello families,
Hi I am Ms. Laura ( Laura Erwin). I LOVE our school and our community! I'm the bus driver and after-school support aid. This is my 5th Year at Manchester Elementary. I love ocean kayak fishing, working in the yard with the plants and the flowers, feeding the wild birds, and chilling at the ocean with my husband. You may see me in the neighborhood of Irish Beach walking dogs. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, playing games, listening to music, and reading! I feel honored to work here at Manchester Elementary with the awesome staff and our incredible students!
David Larson, After School Music Program
Hello families,
My name is David, I am very pleased to be helping out around Manchester. I will be assisting with the before school program, teaching about gold mining, and teaching guitar and harmonica. I think it's going to be a great year and look forward to all that we are going to learn!
Kaja Gawronska, Instructional Aide
Hello my name is Kaja. I am an instructional aide here at Manchester Elementary School. While attending UCSB for my BA degree I worked with special needs children. I also taught art classes and ESL classes to kids in Poland. Working with kids I find to be fun and rewarding.
On my time free I like to go hiking with my dog Vaquero, fishing, gardening or kayaking. There are endless possibilities to explore nature here on the coast.
Marutzzella Castro, Director of Human Resources & School Operations
I have a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from USF and a master’s degree in Law from USC in Los Angeles. While raising my twin daughters, I worked in administration and legal compliance for both corporate and non-profit organizations and volunteered for child-centered organizations such as Crittendon Family Services and the American Youth Soccer Organization (“AYSO”). As a single parent, I observed first-hand the positive academic impact of quality learning opportunities at the elementary school level and beyond, as well as the assistance a positive school environment provides parents who need to work but wish to support their children’s educational growth at the same time. During a recent role as Director of the Extended Learning Opportunity Program (“ELOP”) at Horicon School, I developed engaging hands-on lessons, field trips, and creative learning experiences for the after-school program. Previous to that role, I worked as Title IX Coordinator for Berkeley Unified School District, advocating for students, protecting their rights during the investigation process, and mentoring them as they moved on with their lives post-event, to college and beyond.
I am excited to join Manchester School as the Director of HR & School Operations, overseeing personnel and providing administrative and logistical support to school operations. My goal is to support Manchester School’s students in their growth and development, ultimately empowering them to be tomorrow’s leaders.
Audrey Lareau, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Coach
Greetings friends! My name is Audrey. I grew up near the salt marshes of the beautiful San Francisco peninsula bay lands and meandered my way north until finding my forever home in Point Arena. As an undergraduate at UCSC, I majored in Environmental Studies and Education with the goal of combining my love for nature with my gift of working with children. Shortly after graduating I began working at a non-profit school specializing in children diagnosed with substantial support needs, which led me to pursuing my MA in Special Education at SFSU. I then spent several years studying nature connection at Weaving Earth, Headwaters Outdoor School, and 8 Shields, completed the Academy of Forest Kindergarten's Teacher Training, and worked as a forest kindergarten teacher for 5 years. I am inspired by restorative justice work, community building, ancestral skills, and nature-connection. Last year I retuned to school to study counseling, and am working towards an MA at Naropa University in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Psychology.
Audrey Lareau, Wellness Coach
Indigo Solstice was born in southern California and dropped off at a crowded animal shelter when she was only a few weeks old. A rescue group in northern California picked her up and brought her to their shelter to find her a good home. At the same time, Audrey was looking to adopt a puppy and browsing the different rescue websites. When she saw Indigo’s little puppy picture it was love at first sight, and Audrey left work early that very day to adopt her. Indie was born on the winter solstice and mostly raised by cats. She has worked as Audrey’s classroom helper and loved her job as a forest kindergarten dog the best! When Indigo is very excited you might get to hear her “roar of joy.” She loves snuggles, being read to, belly rubs, and naps in the sun. Indigo is turning 12 this December. That is an old lady in dog years, so remember to be gentle with this sweet granny dog!

Hello Wildcat Families!
My husband, Bill and I, moved to Manchester 5 years ago from Los Angeles and we love it here! When I’m not working, I love traveling and hiking the beautiful Mendonoma Coast. I can't believe this is my 3rd year working at Manchester, originally as a classroom aide and now my 2nd year working in the office. It has been wonderful getting to know the students, their families and making new friends. I am looking forward to a great School Year!
